We are recruiting HIV-negative gay, bisexual, queer and other guys who have sex with guys who currently live in Vancouver, Victoria, Toronto, Hamilton, and Ottawa to do interviews about PrEP.
We are interested in speaking to guys with a range of experiences related to PrEP, including:
- Guys who are currently on PrEP
- Guys who have stopped taking PrEP
- Guys who have never taken PrEP
- Guys who are reluctant to the idea of taking PrEP
We are looking to speak to guys who are willing to do a total of 3 interviews each one year apart.
Participants will get an honorarium for each interview they complete: $30 for the first interview, $50 for the second interview, and $70 and for the third interview. That’s a total of $150!
What’s the interview about?
We want to better understand:
- The experiences of guys related to accessing PrEP, including any difficulties they face
- How and why guys perceive themselves to need PrEP and the usefulness of PrEP for achieving their health goals
- PrEP’s potential impact on HIV stigma, homophobia, and other related forms of discrimination
- How PrEP healthcare is changing and should change
Who are we looking to speak to?
To participate in this study you must be an HIV-negative guy who identities as gay, bisexual or queer, and/or who is sexually active with other guys. You must also currently live in either Toronto or the GTA, Hamilton, Ottawa, Victoria, or Vancouver. You must be 19 years of age or older.
We are prioritizing to make sure we get as much diversity as possible in our study, so that we can get the most comprehensive view of what’s going on in our communities.
We are particularly interested in making sure we talk to:
- Guys of colour
- Indigenous guys
- Trans-identified guys who have sex with other guys
- Guys who do sex work
- Guys who have sex with both men and women
